Burlington, ME – Northbridge Companies and real estate partner, Sandy River Company of Portland, will celebrate breaking ground on three new communities in Brunswick, Wells, and Westbrook. On November 11th and 12th, company executives will be joined by town community leaders at three ceremonies for the forthcoming Avita of Brunswick, Avita of Wells and Stroudwater Lodge residences. The new communities, two of which are fully dedicated to memory care utilizing Northbridge Companies’ industry-leading Avita Memory Care program, are part of Northbridge Companies’ expansion in Maine, offering residents services and amenities that embody its “live well, love life” philosophy.
Slated to open in Fall 2016, the three new communities reflect a $65 million commitment by Northbridge Companies to offer Maine seniors access to an unparalleled lifestyle in beautiful new buildings featuring hospitality-inspired amenities including spa and salon services, an upscale dining experience, community rooms, engaging activities and educational programs supported by professionals 24/7. Designed by experts specializing in senior housing, the new communities will offer a total of 215 units for 253 potential residents. Northbridge Companies’ Avita memory care communities offer thoughtful design elements and failure-free social and learning programs customized for seniors with memory issues, including Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. All staff, from Executive Director to waitstaff, undergoes an intensive memory care training program that exceeds industry regulatory standards and equips all Northbridge Avita personnel with the tools needed to support residents affected by dementia.

Stroudwater Lodge will be located adjacent to the existing Avita of Stroudwater that opened in Westbrook in 2013, and will be a multi-level community featuring 95 studio one- and two-bedroom units, with a theatre, art studio, salon and barber shop, café, pub, outdoor patio, brain gym with touch screen technology, sunroom and beautifully landscaped courtyard in approximately 90,848 square feet. The state-of-the art community, just minutes away from downtown Portland, offers residents easy access to shopping, entertainment and medical services. Stroudwater Lodge will offer both independent living and assisted living options in addition to the Avita memory care program adjacent to the community.
The two new Avita memory care communities in Wells and Brunswick will offer, in addition to assistance with personal care, lifestyle amenities and services including a salon and barber shop, brain gym, screened porches, vibrant social and recreational programs and a locally sourced menu from The Eat Fresh, Eat Local kitchen. Each community will span approximately 47,703 square feet, featuring 60 studio, one-bedroom and companion suites.
